The image top right is of the Car Park
at Westport Beach, next to the main road
between Campbeltown and Glasgow, or
Oban.
Wild Camping is normally in the dunes
close to the Car Park.
The second image is of Surfing that is
popular from early morning till dusk.
Swimming is interesting when being hit
with large waves, even on a real warm
July day with little wind.
This is a vast Beach that runs about 4
miles south to Machrihanish village, passing 2
rather expensive to play Links Golf
courses, Machrihanish
Dunes and Machrihanish Golf
Club.
There is nothing between this Beach
and Canada, you can see the Isle of Islay
to the north and the Irish coast to the
south, each about 20 miles from the
Beach.
Canada is about 2,300 miles west
crossing the Atlantic Ocean and Labrador
Sea.
Campbeltown
Airport is 4 miles southeast of the
Beach by road, for small Loganair flights
from Glasgow, or if you have your own
plane.
Campbeltown Airport has the longest
runway in Scotland with the west end of
the runway close to Westport Beach, just
a short walk through a Golf Course.
