Below is a view from the back tee of the
most famous hole at Turnberry, the 452 yard par four,
9th, Bruce's Castle. The lighthouse was built on the
spot that once contained the castle where the most
famous king of Scotland was born. The back tee requires
a carry of about 200 yards to reach the fairway. Note
the granite marker in the fairway to aim for, right
side of this image. Any wind is normally from
behind. |

Below is a view from the marker on
the fairway of the 9th hole looking back at the
tees. The island of Ailsa Craig is about 9 miles
out, about 40 minutes from the town of Girvan on a
tour boat.

Below is a view from the 9th green
looking back down the fairway. The Cairn Stone
marker is about 217 yards out. Good drives should
leave about 140 yards into this green.
