Scotland Buses

A list of the main Bus / Coach routes throughout Scotland with price guides.

Most Scotland Bus routes in the east of Scotland depart from Edinburgh, and in the west depart from Glasgow. It takes about 1 hour 20 minutes for coaches to travel between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Bus Stations are all close to the city centres.

Touring Scotland, you can buy an Explorer Pass for 3 days out of 5 about £56, 5 days out of 10 about £84, 8 days out of 16 about £112.

You can book tickets online or just pay the driver when getting on the bus. Busy times are best pre-booked to ensure a seat.

CityLink, Megabus and some other coach companies work together, so all can be booked through the CityLink website.

Prices listed below are just a guide as certain dates booked in advance may offer Super Saver deals when booking, up to half price, and afternoon travel is less expensive.

Glasgow buses are best caught at Buchannan Street Bus Station on the north side of the city centre. Website.

Aberdeen - Aberdeen Airport
Regular buses run from the airport to the city centre, cost is about £5 for a one-way ticket. Travel time about 30 minutes.

Edinburgh - Edinburgh Airport
All the public buses pick up and drop off outside the UK arrivals area, running about every 10 minutes. There are a few different bus options around £5 each way. Buses drop off and pick up at a number of locations along the route. Travel time about 30 minutes.

Glasgow - Glasgow International Airport
Regular bus services travel between Glasgow and Glasgow Airport such as the No 905 from Stop No 3 at the front of the Terminal and Airbus Express from stop No 5 at the front of the Tterminal. Travel time about 20 minutes. Price guide about £8.50 single. Stops in Glasgow centre are around Central Train Station and Queens Street Train Station.

Glasgow - Glasgow Prestwick Airport & Ayr
Express Service X77 between Glasgow and Ayr with stops at Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station - Glasgow Wellington St - Glasgow Waterloo St - (some buses stop at Kilmarnock Bus Station) - Prestwick Airport Terminal - Prestwick Cross - Ayr Bus station.

Buses run about every 30 minutes. Cost: Adult single to Glasgow about £7.

Glasgow - Aberdeen
