Volendam was the first of two
sister ships built for the Holland America
Line. The other cruise ship of this class
Zaandam entered service in 2000. These
two ships followed the two 61,000-ton
Rotterdam class that entered service in 1997
and 2001.
Volendam and Zaandam have 10
passenger decks, 2 pools, 10 bars, casino,
fitness center, 600 seat show lounge, 581
outside cabins with 197 having verandas, 139
inside cabins, can carry 1,440 passengers and
a crew of 647.
Volendam is operated
on 7 night cruises from Vancouver - Alaska, and various
cruises from Australia and New Zealand.
Zaandam’s main routes
are to Alaska from Seattle, Mexico from San
Diego and Hawaii from San Diego.
