Prinsendam entered service for
the Holland America Line in 2002 after
being transferred from their sister company
Seabourn Cruises. Prinsendam was
originally built for the Royal Viking Line
as their Royal Viking
Sun. After the break-up of the Royal
Viking Line in the early 1990s, Cunard
purchased Royal Viking
Sun in 1994 to be operating her
under that name until they were taken over
by Carnival in 1999. Royal
Viking Sun was then
transferred to Carnivals other subsidiary,
Seabourn Cruises, where she was renamed
Seabourn Sun. Three years
later, Carnival transferred her to their
other subsidiary, the Holland America Line,
to be operated under the name
Prinsendam.
This Cruise ship has 8 passenger decks,
1 pool, 5 bars, casino, gymnasium and a
showroom that can accommodate all the
passengers. She has 351 outside cabins with
145 having balconies, 19 inside cabins, can
carry 740 passengers and a crew of 450.
Prinsendam is now operated
on a wide range of cruises throughout the
world from 10 to 46 nights. These cruises
include the UK & Scandinavia,
Mediterranean, Africa, India & Middle
East, Bahamas & Caribbean, South
America & Antarctica and
Trans-Atlantic.
