Paul Gauguin was specially designed for the French company Services & Transport. Built with a shallow draft of only 17 feet, this allows her to be operated on cruises to the islands of Tahiti and French Polynesia.

This company joined forces with Radisson Seven Seas Cruises with the arrangement that RSSC would joint manage their ship. Paul Gauguin then joined the 8,282-ton Song of Flower and the 20,295-ton Radisson Diamond giving the company a fleet of three ships at that time.

Radisson Seven Seas Cruises were renamed Regent Seven Seas Cruises in 2006.

Paul Gauguin was sold in 2004 to the Boston based Grand Circle Corp to be operated under her original name. Bookings were then taken through the RSSC & the new Paul Gauguin Cruises websites.

This line now also operates a small yacht type cruise ship under the name Tere Moana.

Paul Gauguin has 7 passenger decks, 1 pool, 3 bars, casino, fitness center, 320-seat showroom, 160 cabins that are all situated on the outside with 80 having verandas, can carry 320 passengers and a crew of 211.

Paul Gauguin's Itinerary is such as from Papeete - Raiatea, Motu Mahana, Bora Bora, Moorea, Moorea/Papeete. Reviews.
