Norwegian Dream was originally built for the Norwegian Cruise Line as Dreamward.  Her near identical sister ship Windward entered service in 1993. These two ships followed the Norwegian Cruise Lines first mid sized cruise ship, the 42,276-ton Norwegian Sea that entered service in 1988. Dreamward and Windward were originally built 624 feet in length and 39,217-tons. Both ships were returned to the builders in 1998 to be lengthened by having a new 130-foot midsection fitted. With that work completed, they re-entered service under the names Norwegian Dream and Norwegian Wind.

This class of ship now has 10 passenger decks, 2 pools, 8 bars, casino, fitness center, 710-seat theatre, 658 outside cabins of which 74 have verandas, 212 inside cabins, can carry 1,748 passengers and a crew of 700.

Norwegian Dream was operated on 7 night cruises out of Houston - Mexico & Western Caribbean, and 12 night cruises from Dover / England - Mediterranean, Eastern Europe & Scandinavia. This ship was transferred to Star Cruises in 2012 to be operated as their SuperStar Gemini on cruises from Vietnam, Malasia & Thailand.

Norwegian Wind’s main route was 7 night cruises out of Vancouver - Alaska, and 10&11 nights from Honolulu - various ports throughout Hawaii. This ship was trnsferred to Star Cruises in 2007 to be operated as their SuperStar Aquarius on cruises to Hong Kong, China, Vietnam & Malasia.
