The Chandris Line founded Celebrity
Cruises in 1988 so they could operate their
converted liner Meridian as a full
time cruise ship under the Celebrity name.
Horizon was their first new built ship
with her sister ship Zenith following
in 1992.
These two cruise ships have 9 passenger
decks, 2 pools, 9 bars, casino, fitness
center, 868 seat show lounge, 533 outside
cabins, 144 inside cabins, can carry 1,354
passengers and a crew of 642.
Horizon was operated
on cruises from Norfolk - Bermuda, and Philadelphia - Bermuda.
She was transferred to the cruise line Island Cruises in
2006 to be operated out of Palma/Majorca to various destinations
throughout the Mediterranean under the name Island Star.
This ship was again transferred in 2008 to Pullmatur Cruises
to be operated under the name Pacific Dream on
Mediterranean & Canary Island cruises out of Malaga
and Lisbon. Other cruises are to the Caribbean from various
ports.
Zenith was operated
on cruises out of Tampa - Florida, Bahamas & Caribbean.
She was transferred to Pullmantur Cruises in 2007 to be
operated under the name MV Zenith on cruises throughout
the Mediterranean and to the Canary Islands from the ports
of Barcelona, Lisbon and Athens.
