Galaxy was the first of two
cruise ships in this class built for
Celebrity Cruises. Her sister ship
Mercury entered service in 1997.
These two ships followed Celebrity’s
70,606-ton Century that entered
service in 1995.
This class of cruise ship has 10
passenger decks, 4 pools, 9 bars, casino,
fitness center, 937 seat theatre, 639 out
side cabins of which 220 have verandas, 296
inside cabins, can carry 1,870 passengers
and a crew of 909.
Galaxy was operated on cruises
out of Civitavecchia/Rome - various ports
throughout the Mediterranean, and from San
Juan/Puerto Rico - Caribbean.
Galaxy was transferred to the
German TUI Cruises in 2009 to be operated
under the name Mein
Schiff.
Mercury mainly cruises
out of Vancouver - Alaska 7 nights and
Baltimore & Charlston - Bahamas &
Caribbean.
