The Hapag Lloyd line was founded in 1970 when Germany's two longest running shipping companies, the Hamburg America Line and North German Lloyd Line, merged. As these two companies competed against each other for almost 100 years, they built some of the world's finest Trans Atlantic liners. By the end of the 20th Century, the oldest cruise ship in the Hapag Lloyd fleet was the sixth ship to use the name Bremen. This cruise ship had originally been built for the Australian company Frontier Cruises as their Frontier Spirit. She was built with a strengthened hull to make her suitable for cruises from New Zealand - Antarctica. Hapag Lloyd Cruises bought Frontier Spirit in 1993 to be operated under the name Bremen.

This cruise ship has 6 passenger decks, 1 pool, 1 bar, fitness center, theatre, 164 cabins that are all situated on the outside with 18 having balconies, can carry 164 passengers and a crew of 94.

Bremens Itinerary is now mainly to Scandinavia, Baltic Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, Africa, Seychelles, South America & Antarctica.
