Ventura was the largest cruise ship built for P&O at this time, capable of carrying 3,100 passengers and 1,200 crew. Her sister ship Azura entered service in 2010.

Ventura and Azura have eight restaurants, six shops, five pools and three show lounges, including the largest theatre so far on a British cruise ship. She has one of the largest spas afloat, a family bistro, and two pools dedicated to parents and children. Of her 1,550 passenger cabins, almost 900 have a private balcony.

Apart from their funnels, Ventura and Azura are almost identical to there American sisters, Diamond Princess that entered service in 2004, Sapphire Princess also 2004, Caribbean Princess also 2004, Crown Princess 2006, Emerald Princess 2007 and Ruby Princess 2008. Their decor differs, making them more suitable for the UK market.

The larger 143,730 ton Britannia entered service for P&O in 2015.
