The Canary Islands consist of five
main holiday islands - Tenerife, La
Palma, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and
Lanzarote - and the two, small unspoilt
islands of Hierro and Gomera.
The islands are the tips of a vast
volcanic mountain range lying beneath the
Atlantic Ocean. The fact that four of
Spain's seven major national nature
reserves are located here reflects the
extraordinary wealth of natural beauty to
be found in the Canaries.
Flights from UK Airports take about 4
hours to the Canary Islands that are
located just off the northwest coast of
Africa, in line with the border between
Morocco and the Western Sahara.

The Playa de Las Teresitas is
a beautiful beach (8 km from
Santa Cruz) by the San Andres
small fishing village.
This beach, unlike many of the
black volcanic sand beaches in
Tenerife, has a Caribbean look as
they bring the sand from the
Sahara dessert to cover it.
The beach is protected by a
reef so it makes it ideal for
snorkeling.
The beach is about 1.5
kilometers with many
"chiringuitos" small beach bars,
to eat a snack, a sandwich or
have a drink.

Tenerife was constructed in 2003.
The building has a structure in the
shape of 'sails' with white blue
rollers.
The audience has a
large hall for concerts, a hall for
opera and other smaller rooms.
It is an emblem of
the city and most photographed
building on the island. This
building is situated in the Port of
Santa Cruz de Tenerife close to the
sea.

Playa de las Américas is a
purpose-built holiday resort
situated 12 miles West of Reina
Sofia Airport in the south of
Tenerife.
It was built in the
1960s beside the town of Los
Cristianos, stretching northward to
the Costa Adeje. The resort area
features numerous bars and
nightclubs, as well as a number of
beaches, most of which are man-made
from imported sand from Africa.
Playa de las
Americas is well known for being
the nightlife epicenter in Tenerife
with a vibrant and varied
assortment of bars, clubs,
restaurants and attractions.

Los Cristianos is situated 15
km's west of the southern airport
(Reina Sofía).This is without
doubt one of the most popular
resorts on the Canary Islands. The
artificial beaches are very nice
along with a wonderful harbour that
offers fishing trips, pleasure
cruises, glass bottom boats, diving
excursions and ferries to La
Gomera.
Los Cristianos tends to attract
a slightly older holidaymaker in
comparison to Playa de las
Américas. It has managed to
keep a little of its original
architecture and atmosphere as a
quaint fishing village. But you
will need to look hard!

Consider Costa Adeje on the
south coast of Tenerife when you're
planning your next beach holiday.
Located just west of the famous
Playa de las Americas and still
within easy driving distance of the
nightlife of the Veronicas
strip.
Costa Adeje is a resort
community that combines the best of
both worlds. It's close to some of
the hottest action and fun in the
Canary Islands but far enough away
that you can sleep untroubled by
the round the clock partying.

The Observatorio del Teide
(Teide Observatory) is an
astronomical observatory on
Tenerife operated by the Instituto
de Astrofísica de
Canarias.
Opened in 1964, it became one of
the first major international
observatories, attracting
telescopes from different countries
around the world because of the
good astronomical seeing
conditions.
Later, the emphasis for optical
telescopes shifted more towards
Roque de los Muchachos Observatory
on La Palma nearby, as the seeing
conditions proved to be even better
there. Can be visited.

Masca is one of the most
picturesque parts of the island
situated at the tip of the
northwest that is covered by the
Teno Mountains.
Deep ravines interlaced with
lush green flora accompany the
winding roads. The road leading
from Buenavista del Norte passes
along narrow hairpin bends towards
the village of Masca.
It was until recently virtually
unknown, but has now become a
centre of attraction for those
touring the island. The setting of
the village is magical and its
houses perch precariously on the
narrow ridges of dramatic rock
formations.
Reputed to have been a Pirate
hideaway, the small Bay of Masca on
the coast is a three-hour walk from
the village through stunning
scenery.
