Marmaris
is a port city and tourist
destination on the Mediterranean
coast, located in southwest
Turkey.
Marmaris' main source of income
now is tourism. A construction boom
in the 1980s saw the town expand
dramatically with beach side
hotels.
It is also a major centre for
sailing, possessing two major and
several smaller marinas. It is a
popular wintering location for
hundreds of cruising boaters. There
are regular ferry services to the
Greek island of Rhodes, and large
cruise ships call at the port.

The
Beaches are exceptionally
popular with sun worshipers as
Marmaris has a Mediterranean
Climate with extremely warm
summers, showers and rain are very
unlikely between May and
October.
Summer temperatures can reach 42
°C (108 °F) sometimes in
July and August. October is still
warm and bright with spells of
rain, some tourists prefer to visit
at this time of year, especially in
September, as the temperatures are
not as hot.
Winters are very mild and frost
occurrence is rare.

Marmaris
Castle is set in the Old
Town.
The castle was rebuilt from
scratch in 1522 by the Ottoman
sultan Suleyman the Magnificent,
when he had set out for his
campaign on Rhodes, for which
Marmaris served as a base.
Since 1979, renovation work has
been continuing at the castle, in
order to restore it back to
original condition. Under the
auspices of the Ministry of
Culture, the castle was converted
into a museum. There are seven
galleries, of which the largest is
being used as an exhibition hall
and the courtyard is decorated with
seasonal flowers.

Rhodes

Icmeler
is a quieter resort situated about
5 miles southwest of Marmaris, 65
miles west of Dalaman Airport.
The town has developed rapidly
over the last 15 years,
accommodation and other tourist
facilities mushrooming across the
formerly sleepy fishermen's and
sponge divers' village.
As a side to the increasing
tourism, this village in the
Turkish Riviera is seeing an
increasing amount of watersports
facilities, such as; scuba diving,

Oludeniz
is a small resort situated about 37
miles southeast of Dalaman Airport,
by the town of Fethiye.
Oludeniz remains one of the most
photographed beaches on the
Mediterranean. It has a secluded
sandy bay at the mouth of Oludeniz,
on a blue lagoon with the beach
frequently rated among the top 5
beaches in the world by travelers
and tourism journals alike.
The resort is also famous for
its paragliding opportunities. It
is regarded as one of the best
places in the world to paraglide
due to its unique panoramic views,
and the Babadag Mountain's
exceptional height.
