Puerto del Carmen is situated about 7 miles south of the airport.

This is the longest established and probably best known resort on the island. It has everything from beachside arcades to casinos and luxury private villas.

Like many places in Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen was originally a small fishing village, the old harbour is still a delightful place to visit, boasting some excellent seafood restaurants.

The resort has grown over the last twenty years, now stretching along the whole 6 kilometres of golden sandy beaches. The town has been saved from the high-rise buildings that blight so many other destinations due to the strict planning restrictions.

Puerto Calero is a small luxury resort situated about 2 miles south of Puerto del Carmen.

This is an exclusive retreat consiting of a luxury Marina, Residential Development and Golf Course.

The Marina is a great place to wander, look at the fabulous boats and generally soak up a bit of the luxury atmosphere that permeates the whole place. You can certainly spend a few hours sat in one of the cafes or restaurants that overlook the marina without even realizing how long you have been there.

If you want to do more than just sit, Puerto Calero is the base for a number of water based activites, such as the Catlanza catamaran trips, Submarine excursions & sport-fishing boats that allow you to try your skill at landing Marlin and Blue-fin Tuna in some of the best and most productive waters you can find.

Playa Blanca is situated about 23 miles southwest of the airport.

Until quite recently, this was a small fishing village somewhat stranded at the bottom end of Lanzarote. The fact that there was a bustling port where you can take a short trip on a Ferry to Corralejo on Fuerteventura, meant it was always a popular place, ripe for development. This resort that is still expanding, is regarded as more tranquil than the other resorts.
