A car park check-inn operator by the
name of Auld Harry, had a dry sense of
humour. The process for checking-inn was,
to call at a check-inn booth next to the
entrance barrier, check the pre-paid
booking details were correct, then be
told where to park.
The computer contained all the data
such as flight details, car colour, car
make and registration. When not busy,
check-inn staff could note the
registration of a car driving in so they
could get the booking up on screen by the
time the customer pulled up at the
check-inn booth.
This sometimes impressed customers as
the check-inn staff could then greet them
by their name. Many customers were
confused as to how they knew their names,
some couples going on a dirty weekend,
were concerned how they knew the false name
they were using.
One day, Harry with the dry sense of
humour, greeted a customer by stating,
good morning Mr Brown.
Mr Brown replied, how do you know my
name, do you know me.
Harry replied, I was doubled up with
you in Barlinnie Prison.
Mr Brown saw the funny side, but his
wife and the couple traveling with them
in the back or their car, looked
concerned to say the least.
